Video Conference with Princes Hill Primary School
Our students meet Australian students from Princes Hill Primary School in Melbourne through video conferences. Students have the opportunity to learn and appreciate the culture of another country while meeting new friends to enrich their personal development.
2023 - 2024
A video conference was held between our school and Princes Hill Primary School which is located in Melbourne, Australia. Students from both schools engaged in lively discussions about their upcoming summer activities, sharing ideas and experiences. Several students from our school even shared their exciting experiences from the recent soccer exchange in Spain. The P. 6 students bid farewell to their Australian buddies, leaving a sense of enthusiasm for future collaborations.
A video conference was held between our school and Princes Hill Primary School which is located in Melbourne, Australia. The discussion began with students introducing themselves and sharing fascinating insights about their respective schools. They discussed various aspects, such as their favourite subjects, extracurricular activities, and unique traditions. As the conversation unfolded, the topic naturally transitioned to the recent Taylor Swift concert held in Melbourne. The students shared their favourite songs and memorable moments. Throughout the video conference, both groups of students actively participated, asking thoughtful questions and offering insightful observations. The students discovered commonalities and embraced diversity, strengthening the bonds between their schools.
On 3rd October, 2023, a video conference was held between our school and Princes Hill Primary School which is in Melbourne, Australia. The discussion was centered around the origins and customs of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Students from both schools shared their knowledge about the festival, delving into its historical background and traditional practices. They talked about the significance of mooncakes, lanterns, and the importance of family reunions during this festive season. The students also shared updates on their recent personal developments, achievements, hobbies, and interests. This provided an opportunity for students to develop a deeper understanding of each other's lives.
2022 - 2023
On 9th May, 2023, a video conference was held between Luk Hing Too Primary School and Princes Hill Primary School in Australia. The children from both schools were excited to share their knowledge of local food and scenic spots in their respective cities. The students from Luk Hing Too Primary School shared their knowledge of traditional Hong Kong dishes, such as dim sum and egg tarts, while the students from Princes Hill Primary School in Australia talked about Australian favourites, like meat pies and lamingtons. The students also shared information about popular tourist spots, such as the Palace Museum in Hong Kong and Luna Park in Melbourne, showcasing their cities' unique attractions. Overall, the video conference was a great success, fostering cultural understanding and friendship between the two schools.
On 31st March, 2023, our students met with the Australian students for the very first time this school year. To get to know each other better, students from both schools introduced themselves and discussed their hobbies and interests. Students also suggested some wonderful attractions to visit and yummy snacks to try when visiting Hong Kong or Melbourne. Students discovered many differences with their Australian peers and they are eager to discuss them in further detail in the next video conference.
2021 - 2022
On 13th July, 2022, our students discussed the topic of electric scooters with their buddies from Princes Hill Primary School. During this meeting, students from Australia talked about the challenges and dangers around the increased use of electric scooters in Melbourne. The Hong Kong students addressed some issues they foresee if electric scooters are allowed on the roads of Hong Kong. The students from the two schools suggested possible ways, such as imposing age limit restrictions, developing e-scooter trails, wearing safety gear and the possibility of having law enforcers on the road to ensure the safety of all users.
On 24th November, 2021, the Hong Kong students talked about some important environmental issues of Hong Kong and Melbourne with their buddies at Princes Hill Primary School. During this meeting, students from Australia raised the issue of carbon emissions and how they are affecting countries around the world. The Hong Kong students addressed the issue of extreme weather conditions in Hong Kong, as a result of carbon emissions and global warming. The students from the two schools suggested possible ways, such as reducing the use of fossil fuels, harvesting renewable energy sources and the possibility of having electric cars, in order to maintain the average global temperature.
2020 - 2021
On 13th July, 2021, the Hong Kong students talked about some attractions of Hong Kong and Melbourne with their buddies at Princes Hill Primary School. The video conference was held at the MMLC starting at 10:30 am (HKT) via Zoom and lasted for 30 minutes. During this second meeting, students from Hong Kong talked about their plans for the summer holiday and introduced some local attractions they are planning to visit over the holiday break. The Australian students who just came back from their holiday break, also chatted about various places they visited during their holiday break. Students would like to learn more about other attractions, like the Forbidden City, in the coming meetings.
On 26th May, 2021, twenty Hong Kong students chatted with their buddies at Princes Hill Primary School in Melbourne. The video conference was held at the MMLC starting at 10:30 am (HKT) via Zoom and lasted for 30 minutes. During this wonderful first meeting, students from both schools introduced themselves and talked about their hobbies. Students from both schools also suggested some incredible places to visit and some famous snacks to try when visiting Hong Kong or Melbourne in the future. Students discovered many similarities with their Australian peers that they are eager to discuss in more detail during the next meeting.
